I wandered lonely as a cloud

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed---and gazed---but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

-William Wordsworth

I am feeling deep tonight.

I just attended a poetry reading, my first if you'll believe it. And even though I was only able to stay for a half hour (I had just finished playing inter-tube water polo and selling baked goods all afternoon), it still helped refurbish my love for the written word.

Growing up, it was always easier for me to get out what I kept inside through writing. I guess you could call me an introvert. I tend to keep quiet when I really should be expressing myself. I think I have gotten a bit better, but it's still a struggle.

I am a thinker. Like any woman, I over think absolutely everything and try to grasp the meaning of every interaction or circumstance. I am usually correct, but the realities are not always what I would have liked.

Which brings me to poetry. You can think and over think poetry again and again and still not ever know what the author is really thinking. I love that. It presents a greater challenge than your typical lyric (which I clearly love as well).

While in my college English classes (I took many because I loved that you had to READ for homework- yes, I am a book worm), I read a lot of poetry from the likes of Wordsworth, Poe, Keats & Yeats. All of which I loved, all different.

They are so talented at expressing emotion. Everything so perfectly painted.

Today we held a Bake Sale to support those who have been effected by Hurricane Sandy. There were so many things that impressed me. The fact that Lisa and Jess decided to throw this together (you guys are amazing), the fact that so many people donated delicious treats, and the fact that we made a ton more money than I ever would have expected. It's incredible how many people will come together to support a good cause. I feel so blessed to have been able to help!

My heart goes out to all those who are struggling right now over on the East Coast. We are all praying for you.

No matter what I'm feeling
I won't hide it
You know that you can tell me
Every secret
Cause I'm no good at guessing
I just need to know

xx
